Etiquette

Party

Nighttime Etiquette: Noise and Parties
Making loud noises or partying late at night can be considered a nuisance to your neighbours. It's important to keep things quiet in the evening and be mindful of those living around you.

02

To cause a commotion

It's important to keep quiet on trains and buses. Please avoid talking on the phone, and if you're listening to music, use headphones and keep the volume low so others can't hear it. Also, avoid spreading out your belongings on the seats—being considerate of others is part of good manners.

03

Distracted by your phone

Using a smartphone while riding a bicycle is dangerous and prohibited. For your safety and the safety of others, never use your phone while in motion—make sure to stop before using it.
Also, be cautious of “walking while using your phone” (known as aruki-sumaho in Japanese), as it can lead to accidents.
